As you meditate on and come to fully realize the truth in the law of impermanence: that all things change; life is a continual ebb & flow, arising & passing away – you will naturally come to stand more solidly and firmly in the present moment; the only moment which truly exists. In so doing you give credence and honour to yourself and all of those around you – seeing yourself as you truly are and witnessing others in their true beauty & grace, rather than through false lenses of the past or imaginations of the future.
When we provide space for present moment BEING, we are able to let go of what we have been holding on to from our past.
We are able to be with ourselves and with others in a more authentic way without the distraction of ‘should’s and should not’s’. So often we spend time lost in thought, not only of the past & future, but also imagining and wishing ourselves to be different; to look different, act different, live somewhere else, work somewhere else(or not at all) and we place these same pressures & expectations on our loved ones. With continued practice, this self inflicted suffering washes away along with the false belief that you can, in any way hold onto something or someone …
I am not suggesting that we not aspire to or work towards our set goals and dreams for the future…What I am encouraging is the development of a meditation practice which fosters acceptance, love, gratitude and enthusiasm for the present. This practice will allow you to build and work towards your dreams without clinging to them, without suffering when things don’t pan out as you feel they ‘should’… By meditating on and experiencing the fact that all things change, you become free. Free to live life with a deep appreciation of each encounter, seeing it for the gift of experience that it is – without judgment of good or bad; simply observing, experiencing and appreciating the true nature of life.
Create space for NOW. Open your eyes to the true beauty & grace of now, for it is fleeting and will never be again.

…To Embrace Your Future
Since the beginning of this year, I have been a regular contributor to the Health & Wellness site mindbodygreen.com. It has been a very rewarding experience to share with and reach out to people throughout all corners of the world and to receive feedback about my work. I am so grateful to know that my humble thoughts, ideas and words have a positive impact on people.
By far my most popular contribution so far has been my article 10 Tips to Let Go of the Past and Embrace the Future – I believe that this topic resonates with people because it is a universal challenge…
We often find ourselves holding on to pieces of our past despite the fact that in reality they no longer exist and truly have no power or control over us – except of course the power and control, which we allow for them to hold.
With my upcoming workshop, I thought it timely to revisit this list of 10 tips… I believe that if we put these tips into action we will be well on our way to not only letting go of, but learning from our past in order to be present to each moment and fully embrace with faith and confidence our future.
I recognize that probably the biggest challenge is actually taking these tips from the page and applying them to our ‘real lives’ through action. This is my daily challenge and a challenge that I will pose to you today. I look forward to hearing how, and if these action items work for you and encourage you to share your progress, insights or challenges with me and other readers…
